African Leaders Academy (ALA), an institution committed to the development of the next generation of African leaders, is receiving first round applications for its next intake.
Application forms are available in English, French, Portuguese and Arabic. These applications must be received via email, fax, certified courier, or postal mail by 12 December 2010. Entry is based solely on merit.
According to their website, ALA seeks to enrol the most outstanding young leaders aged between 15 and 18 from across Africa and around the world based on five criteria for admission: academic achievement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to public service and passion for Africa.
Apart from direct applications by prospective ALA students, ALA also depends on student nominations by a network of individuals and organizations who are committed to exposing outstanding young people to opportunities that will help them realize their potential.
Most of the young people aged between 15 and 18 in many African countries do not have access to the Internet. Chances that they will see this blog post and other articles on this issue are very slim. Therefore, if you can, please nominate one or two students who meet the ALA admission criteria.
After the first round of applications (and nominations), there are two more rounds. Applicants in the final round will notified of the admission decisions by 31 May, 2011. Successful students will undergo a two year, intense academic program based on the internationally recognized A-level curriculum.
Scholarships are available for students with financial need. Students are also assured access to some of the world’s finest universities after graduation.
All youngsters out there, this an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity. You do not have to pay anything in order to apply.
As usual, don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and relatives.
