College of Medicine, University of Malawi has launched a call for applications for postgraduate scholarships that will enable successful applications to enroll in one of three health-related Masters programs being offered by the College. Only female students from Southern Africa are eligible.

These scholarships will be tenable at the Africa Center of Excellence in Public Health and Herbal Medicine (ACEPHEM) at the College of Medicine, University of Malawi. ACEPHEM is funded by the Malawi Government with funding from the World Bank. The Center’s aim is to promote postgraduate education and training and research in the following areas: injuries, urban health, adolescent health and herbal medicine.

The scholarships will cater for students in the following programs: Master of Public Health (MPH; Master of Science in Epidemiology; and Master of Science in Global Health Implementation. These scholarships incorporate full tuition, research costs and a monthly stipend. Further eligibility requirements are as follows:

  1. The applicant must have obtained a first undergraduate degree or an average score not less than 65% in the final year of their studies;
  2. The applicant must be between 2 and 4 years since graduating for their bachelor’s degree;
  3. The applicant must have published at least one article in a scientific journal;
  4. Where journal publication is not available, he or she should have presented an abstract or paper at an international conference or symposium;
  5. The applicant must be from the SADC region;
  6. The applicant must have obtained previous study grants or received academic honors.
