Our paper entitled “Binary Search Based PSO for Master Node Enumeration and Placement in a Smart Water Metering Network” has been accepted for the Africomm 2019 conference, which will take place in Porto Novo in Benin from 3 to 5 December, 2019. Africomm 2019 is the 11th European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) International Conference on e‐Infrastructure and e‐Services for Developing Countries.

Our paper is a continuation of the work on Smart Water Metering Networks that I have been doing with predominantly undergraduate students. It is amazing to see the kind of work done by motivated and passionate students at such a young age.

I will present this paper on behalf of our team. I will be traveling to West Africa for the very first time and I am looking forward to the experience. Benin is a French speaking country. I just hope that I will not have language problems on the streets.

Maybe their proximity to Nigeria, an Anglophone country helps to a bit bilingual. For those of you, who have travelled to this country before, how was your experience? Did you encounter any language problems? How is the weather at this time of the year and how is the food? Are there some nice places in Cotonou and Porto Novo, that you would recommend for me to visit?

If you are also attending this conference, it will be great if please contact me. I am also interested in research collaboration. My research efforts to the following areas: Intelligent Systems based Localization, Smart Water Networks, Intelligent Algorithms for Vehicular Communication Networks, Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks, and Throughput Optimization of Free Space Optical Communication Networks.
